The Disc-Rotor is a collaboration between DARPA and Boeing. Hoping to marry the best features of a helicopter and an airplane, the Disc-Rotor program aims to develop a new type of aircraft capable of a quietly transitioning from hovering like a helicopter to flying like a plane. The design is propelled by rotor blades that extend from a central disc, letting it take off and land like a helicopter. But those blades can also retract into the disc, minimizing drag and letting the Disc-Rotor fly like a plane, powered by engines beneath each wing.

Microsoft launches Xbox Live app for iPhone, iPad

Microsoft released an Xbox Live app for iOS devices on Wednesday, bringing features of Microsoft's gaming to Apple devices for the first time.Xbox Live lets users edit their 3-D avatars, chat with Xbox Live friends and revel in their achievements. In an effort to embrace a truly natural approach to lighting,Philips took a cue from fireflies and deep-sea creatures to create a (literally) green light powered not by electricity or sunlight, but by glowing bacteria.Philips tasked itself with creating a lighting system driven by the wastes typically generated in the average home. To feed the bacteria housed in the bio-light's unusual hand-blown glass compartments, methane - which could generated by the MH kitchen's bio-digester unit from kitchen vegetable waste - is piped in through thin silicon tubes connected to a reservoir at the base.

Google opened an online music store and a free Web storage locker on Wednesday for listening to tracks from computers, tablets and phones, the company announced at a news conference in Los Angeles.The music store sells songs and albums for prices close to iTunes and Amazon MP3, but Google's catalog is smaller. The storefront can be found in the Android Market, an application and website where Google smartphone users can download apps.It seems really cool and cant' wait to try it.

1st marking period

The first marking period ended Wednesday November 9. For web 2.0 it was very fun and interesting to learn about. Mr. Porfido showed us different websites for essay and research. I think i could of have done better though.

4 day week-end

This week I had a four day weekend because of a teachers convention. This weekend I went to little ferry, I cheered for a football game in saddle brook, and study for an English test. At the football game we played Saddle Brook and won. Since we won were going to the super ball.

Barnes and Noble is charging the new nook tablet at $249.00it is a lightweight tablet optimzed for reading e-books, streaming movies and browsing the Web. It will compete with amazons new Kindle Fire.B&N's Nook Tablet will be available in its stores on Nov. 17,the 7-inch tablet offers a more powerful processor and twice the storage capacity of Amazon's rival.

Ford is installing a feature in its new vehicle and many of its older ones that can read text messages out loud. The feature is intended to reduce texting while driving. It is already installed on all model 2012 Ford vehicles with the exception of the Ranger. Using Bluetooth connection, it syncs with phones and alerts users when they receive text messages, reads them out loud and allows users to respond with a selection of standard pre-written messages without taking their hands off the wheel.

One million people have pre-ordered the iPhone 4 in just 24-hours after it was put on sale. It was one of the biggest achievements by apple. he best selling smartphone for Apple which has sold more than the first three generation of iPhones combined, holds a 600,000 pre-orders record in a single day! The iPhone 4 seems really cool and i can't wait to get it!

 

Vizio

Vizio is mostly known for its tv's. But now they have an 8 in tablet. Its a lot like all the new tablets that are out or coming out. The tablet has wifi, three speakers, and a camera to take pictures, videos, and video chats. I believe the Vizio 8 in tablet is pretty cool.

The kindle's secret weapon: lasers

The new kindle features something the other kindles didn't have. A touch screen. The current technology for touch screens -- it's called capacitive touch -- is a layer that goes on top of that display. It adds glare. It seems really interesting and cool. I can't wait for it to come out. Click here for more information.

This weekend i had a football game, a sleepover, and a soccer game. We won the football game but lost the soccer game. It was a lot of fun but really tiring. The sleepover was a lot of fun.

Under Water Camera

Underwater cameras are designed with covers with a clear window and access to the controls, so that they won't have water pressure damage. Underwater cameras take 20 to 30 pictures and can be submerged in about 20 to 30 feet of water. They are usally use for snorkeling and pools. In my oppion the underwater camera is really cool. I hope to see more new electronics like this come out.

I like the fall because of cheering, Halloween, apple picking, and making leaf piles. Halloween is fun because I get to decide what to wear for Halloween. Also picking apples with my mom, dad, brother, aunt,and cousins. Its a lot of fun because we get to climb the trees and throw them down to my dads jeep while the tops off. Fall is a lot of fun, except for the cold.
